This year for 2017 Steamworks, our team wanted to try a different organization method. This new method of organization is to open new opportunities for students, as well as simulate a real working environment. Team 3596 has implemented Trello. Trello is an organization tool that can be used by sports teams, small businesses, and in this case a robotics team! In Trello, members can coordinate with one another to speed workflow. Members can also make a sub group called a board. With boards, members can assign different tasks to fellow students in their group. Maybe a two by four needs to get trimmed. A card, or ticket, can be placed on the Manufacturing board.
Another change has been made to increase our team's organization effort. Being a "Team Leader" has been given more emphasis. Seven people have been chosen to be team leaders for a respective group in the team. Those groups are Manufacturing, Marketing, Programming, Design, and Energy Conversion (Along with two captains for the whole team). This has been implemented to, again, increase workflow and organization. Each team captain will give tasks on Trello to their team members to get tasks done swiftly and on time. This is to also prevent, say a programmer doing something in the shop when there are limited programmers during the meeting and a surplus of manufacturers.
